Learning SPACE is an award-winning family-run business providing sensory, educational, and specialist equipment to schools, homes, hospitals, and nurseries across the UK and Ireland. Founded in 2007 by sisters Lorraine (a teacher) and Mary (a social worker)—inspired by their younger sister Emma, who has Soto syndrome—Learning SPACE was created to make accessing the right resources easier, more personal, and more impactful. Sister Naomh joined in 2015, making it a true family mission.

We are proud to be the go-to supplier for Family Fund and a trusted partner for parents, educators, therapists, and health professionals. Our passionate team of 14 brings lived experience, qualifications in education, and deep product knowledge from over 200 trusted suppliers. Training has always been central to what we do, because tools alone aren’t enough. To truly support children and young people, we need to empower the adults around them too—with empathy, understanding, and real-life strategies.

In 2024, due to growing demand, Lorraine co-founded Diverse SPACE, a neurodivergent-led training company offering immersive, meaningful learning experiences for schools, families, and organisations.

Lorraine McAleer, a former teacher and late-identified autistic woman, brings over 25 years of experience alongside a deep personal understanding. Her passion is rooted in her family journey and professional expertise. She holds a Graduate Certificate in Autism and regularly engages in research, training, and outreach to ensure the support we offer stays relevant and effective.
